SCHEMES

Schemes being implemented by Sheep Husbandry Department, Jammu:

 

Under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS):

1.       National Livestock Health And Disease Control Programme (NLH&DCP):

a.       Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD):

Vaccination against economically important diseases viz. FMD, Sheep Pox, Clostridial infections is taken up under the scheme. Apart from this, strengthening of Disease Investigation Laboratory, Surveillance and monitoring of diseases and Awareness programmes are also taken up under the scheme.

b.       Peste des Petits Ruminants Control Programme (PPR-CP): Vaccination against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) is taken up under this scheme which is an important disease of sheep and goats.

 

c.       Establishment and Strengthening of Veterinary Hospitals & Dispensaries (ESVHD).

Establishment of new hospitals and dispensaries of the Department is taken up under the scheme for strengthening the infrastructure for providing proper and timely health care to the sheep and goat population.

2.       Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY):

a.       Under RKVY, establishment of 25 Ewes/Does units on participatory mode under RKVY wherein 25 ewes/ does are provided to the beneficiary and 5 ewes/ does are retrieved 3rd year onwards for 5 consecutive years.

b.      Establishment of 10 Ewes/Does units on participatory mode under RKVY wherein 10 ewes/ does are provided to the beneficiary and 2 ewes/ does are retrieved 3rd year onwards f or 5 consecutive years.

3.       ATMA scheme under National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET) Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE) different extension activities like Kisan Goshties, organizing demonstration camps and exposure visit of Farmers/breeders are conducted  in every district.

4.       Under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF)

Hospitals, dispensaries and other departmental buildings are constructed under the scheme with financial assistance from NABARD as loan with funding pattern of 95:5 (NABARD Loan: State Share)

 

5.       Under State Sector Schemes:

a.      Genetic improvement / construction of existing Labs.

b.       Strengthening of Govt. Farms by way of Land Development.

c.      Improvement of Goat in Pvt. Sector for Mutton & Milch.

d.      IT intervention

 

VARIOUS  EMPLOYMENT GENERATION SCHEMES BEING IMPLEMENTED BY THE SHEEP HUSBANDRY  DEPARTMENT

 

1.Integrated Sheep Development Scheme 2022-23

Component

Pattern of Assistance

Eligibility of the beneficiary

1.Establishment of sheep/goat unit on participatory mode comprising of 10 ewes/does

i. Cost of 10 ewes/does @ Rs. 10,000 each Rs. 1,00,000

ii. Transport subsidy & insurance premium @ Rs. 10,000 per unit

Total = Rs. 1,10,000

Preferenace be given to BPL/EWS/AAY categories to encourage such class of people

2. Establishment of Sheep/Goat units (20 sheep/goats per Unit)

50% of the unit cost as total eligible subsidy with a ceiling of Rs. 1.00 Lac whichever is less per unit (20 sheep/goat) and maximum subsidy ceiling of Rs 10.00 Lac for 10 Sheep/Goat units (each unit comprising of 20 Sheep/goats)

Any Individual/Group of individuals/Self Help Groups/Cooperatives society/farmers producer organizations

3. Transport & insurance incentive for induction of animals from outside the UT to the place of unit establishment

50% of the transportation cost and insurance premium for the first year with a maximum ceiling of Rs. 10,000 per unit (20 sheep/goat) and maximum incentive ceiling of Rs. 1.00 Lac for 10 sheep/goat units (each unit comprising of 20 sheep/goats)

Beneficiary establishing the unit under component 2

3.Procurement of Shearing units (Comprising of one Shearing Machine, one Genset & shearing accessories/ spares)

50% of the unit cost as total eligible subsidy with a ceiling of Rs. 75,000/unit whichever is less

Any individual (Trained in MSS or intending to undergo training in MSS)

2.Tribal Sub Plan Scheme

Establishment of Sheep/goat units of 10 ewes and one Breedable Ram

Livestock supplied free of cost. Retrieval of equivalent livestock from female progeny in phased manner from 3rd year onward. Retrieved livestock shall be utilized for establishment of fresh units.

Cost of 10 ewes/does @ Rs. 8,000/animal = Rs 80000/- and 01 Breedable Ram @ Rs. 12000/animal and Insurance of animals along with Metallic Display Board and Transport charges @ Rs 8000/- per unit.

Total Cost of the Livestock Unit = 1.00 Lac

Any Individual belonging to ST Category can avail the benefits of the scheme. Preference shall be given to migratory families as existing in survey and women. Unemployed youth and victims of Covid -19 who have lost their lone bread earner shall be given preference

3.Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) Scheme

Establishment of Sheep/goat units of 10 ewes/does unit on Retrieval mode from already established units.

Livestock supplied free of cost. Retrieval of equivalent livestock from female progeny in phased manner from 3rd year onward. Retrieved livestock shall be utilized for establishment of fresh units.

 

Any Individual can avail the benefits of the scheme.
